Diagnosed GHSV-1, but then got it orally?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! I was diagnosed GHSV-1 about four months ago. I'm pretty fine with it, but I haven't had to disclose yet which gives me some anxiety. However, I had my first outbreak which healed quickly and I left the country for about a month and a half. I had absolutely no issues while I was gone. Upon my return I got sick again. Thinking it was strep throat I didn't do much because I've had strep countless times, but then I saw a sore in my throat and got three cold sores on my mouth.

Is it possible to have HSV both orally and genitally? I know HSV-1 likes to hang out around the mouth, but I thought that once you had it in one area it was rare that it would spread somewhere else? Can it move?? Now I'm confused and questioning my diagnosis. Would love some help
