Unbearable

Ok so I'm not sure if this is normal or not, but I've been extremely itchy down stairs but with no lesions. I'm not sure if it's herpes related or not, but I can't go to the Dr atm, or soon.. Has anyone else had this before?? Newly diagnosed with hsv 2, know when I got it and by who. Its super new to me and just seeking help.

I have GHSV1, and have the same symptom. Almost constant unbearable itching. I’ve never had a breakout, and my doctor won’t give me anything because of that. I started using a daily vitamin. The itching has lessened, but hadn’t gone away entirely. This has been going on since September for me.

Itching is my primary symptom, @Thatgirl. For roughly 20 years I thought I was just cursed with occasional itching down there (I didn’t realize at the time I have HSV). Once I was diagnosed, I tried both Valtrex and acyclovir to find an antiviral that I tolerated well to reduce chances of transmission to future partners. The acyclovir stopped the itching within a few weeks. It’s been heaven!!

Itching can be from a lot of things, so it’s hard to say if it’s herpes related or not. But that was my experience.

I assume it's herpes related because before I contracted it, I've never had anything wrong down there. I heard the pills are expensive do they really actually work? I've also read putting coconut oil or a and d ointment helps, anyone tried that?

It depends on the person and their insurance. Valtrex didn’t do a thing for me and gave me constant zingers. Acyclovir works better than coconut oil for me and with my insurance, I pay $19.33 for a three month supply of the generic acyclovir. .

Coconut oil mixed with tea tree oil is heaven for me.
