Got the results

I had a culture taken a few days ago and got the results yesterday that I’m positive. Not sure if it was the first outbreak or the first where there was a problem. It didn’t look “typical “ with sores hat crusted over. Just an area with redness and irritation. I’m feeling very lost and shocked. Now looking for support

I just found out from my doctor that it is GHSV-1.

I didn’t have an outbreak, just went in for my annual. A couple days later my doctor calls me with the results. I’ve fried, stressed, and stressed some more. I am so lost and feel so disgusting. I don’t have anyone to talk to about this.

I just got my diagnosis of HSV-2 a day ago. It's a scary reality knowing that this is for life. There seems to be lots of helpful blogs and members online though! Just remember that you're still you and that this doesn't define you or take away from your greatness as an individual!

Try to focus on the future. Try to make a plan to do something that excites you soon.

Perspective and something to look forward to are the best way to avoid depression. Those things really helped me personally.

I also recommend talking to your doctor about a treatment medication like valacyclovir (val-uh-sigh-clove-ear). For me, the medicine had a fast effect and acted like a security blanket by making me feel like I was at least doing -something-.
