Taking a bath with my kids?

Recommended Posts

Hi, I just found out I have HSV2 and am currently going through my first outbreak. I didn't realize that HSV2 had been causing me so much pain because I went to the ER and they said it was a hemorrhoid.. I took a bath with my 10 month old daughter before they called me with the diagnosis. Is it possible for her to catch HSV2 from me if we took a bath together at the time of my first outbreak?? I am freaking out and severely depressed and this is all making it worse..

The transmission of genital HSV2 requires skin-to-skin genital contact. It’s a good idea to use separate towels when you’re having an active outbreak as viruses like warm, moist environments. Aside from that, I’ve never even heard of transmission through bathwater...it sounds very unlikely.

Have you seen this handbook? It’s a great source of basic information about HSV that’s easy to read: https://www.westoverheights.com/herpes/the-updated-herpes-handbook/
