genital herpes and surgery

Recommended Posts

I don't see why not. I've had surgeries since acquiring genital herpes and it wasn't something I was asked about. I don't know if I had an active outbreak during either surgery (one being a hysterectomy), but I didn't think it was necessary to let the doctors know. I'm sure if it were an issue, they'd make it a point to ask prior to surgery. With your outbreak being in the genitals, and the surgery taking place around the stomach area, the doctor won't be anywhere near the site of the outbreak. Anyway, isn't that why they wear protective equipment such as latex gloves? :) In my experience, and others that have replied to a similar question on here, surgery with herpes is not a concern. One won't complicate the other.
