Weird medication reaction?

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if anyone could shed some light on this situation, so i was diagnosed about 2 years ago and have had very minor/ no symptoms since then, however recently i started taking aciclovir 2 times a day for suppression purposes, since then things seem to have only gotten worse? mostly just itching and tingling etc but nothing visible, why could this be?

IIRC, antivirals are effective to some degree (with an average reduction of 70-80% in outbreaks and a significant reduction in viral shedding) in all but .3% of people. However, some people who experience benefits also experience side effects they find bothersome and some of those people have better results when they switch meds. If you've already used this med successfully, maybe you could give it a bit more time before switching, assuming it's tolerable on a short-term basis.

Okay thanks, just considering I do not get outbreaks anyway it does make me question whether or not it is worth it, however I do want to minimise my risk of transmission, decisions! Does it make that much difference?
