Just needed some advice, I have had no outbreaks other than initial one about 2.5 years ago (despite a stress and bad uni diet haha) its so mild that I forget i have it most of the time lol! if I was to take suppressive meds and use protection what would be the odds of passing? (I am female)

If you have HSV2, the odds of transmission to a male partner would be 4% per year without condoms and antivirals, 2% per year with condoms or daily antivirals, 1% per year with both condoms and daily antivirals. The annual risk stats are based on an assumption of sex 2x per week and no sex during outbreaks. Greater frequency = greater risk.

If you have GHSV1, that typically sheds 1/3 as frequently as HSV2, so dividing the above stated risks by 3 would be a reasonable estimate, though this has not yet been confirmed in studies. It's my understanding that studies are underway to better determine risk of GHSV1 transmission.

Personally, I choose to take antivirals even though I don't get noticeable outbreaks. It gives me peace of mind to know I'm doing everything I can to reduce risk of transmission.
