Preventing transmission to my partner

Hi, all. I was diagnosed with GHSV in September last year I have never had an outbreak. I really had a hard coping with the diagnosis and I only found out after infecting my then boyfriend. You guys really helped me to deal with the all the crazy things that I went through. I managed to move on and realize that having herpes does not make me less of the person that I am. I am still me and I can still achieve my goals and work towards living my dream. Now I just met the most amazing man and I am falling in love. We have been dating for a month now and I feel that it's high time I disclosed. I just have a few questions;

how do I prevent transmission to my partner?

Here in Zimbabwe, we don't have Valtrex, we only have Aciclovir. Does it work the same way if I take it as suppressive therapy?

Also, does L-lysine help to prevent transmission?

Can I give my man oral or kiss him without transmitting because I got a blood test I dont know if i have it genitally only or both genitally and orally?

Lysine helps your immune system, which helps you have less outbreaks, which helps you shed less virus, which helps your transmit less. :)

How do you know you have GHSV? Because the blood test said you have HSV-2 and not HSV-1?

Yes, acyclovir works for suppressive therapy like Valtrex. Taking antivirals cuts the transmission rate in half. As does using condoms.

As surfsup mentioned, knowing which type of HSV you have (1 or 2) will help answer your other questions.

Yea, you probably have it genitally. It's pretty uncommon to have it orally (1-2% supposedly of HSV-2 is oral, vs genital).
