Confused,lost,scared

First I would like to say thank you for sharing your stories in this group. It has really helped me with my recent diagnosis. However I am very confused on some things, I have not had a follow-up appointment from my ER visit. I am on Valtrex I was diagnosed with HSV-1 so does that mean I have oral herpes and I can pass this on by kissing someone? I feel I am a walking cautious bomb...who is incapable of being loved

Are you having a genital outbreak? Or an oral outbreak? With HSV-1 typically people only experience oral cold sores. 50%-80% of the US population have oral herpes (cold sores) and 90% of people have been exposed to it by age 50. If you have it orally, the chances of you passing it on by kissing someone are pretty slim unless you have a cold sore present. I was recently diagnosed with GHSV-1 and it gets better! You won't feel this way forever. In a couple weeks from now, you probably won't even think about it anymore!

Thank you!! It was a gential outbreak, it's been a pretty rough 2 wks with trying to deal with it and familiarize myself with the diagnosis. However, this site has been wonderful with answering my questions !!!so, sincerely thank you again for everyone's input it helps to know you are not alone!!!!
