Culture came back

Doctor examined me and said it looked like genital cold sores. She took a culture and the culture came back as an enterococcus bacteria infection, which she prescribed Augmentin (an antibiotic) for. I am a male by the way.

What do you guys think about this?

@BlueTreads Sounds like the swab came back negative for herpes and positive for a bacterial infection. Visual diagnosis is only a guess and sometimes incorrect. I would rely on the swab results and forget about the visual diagnosis. If it recurs later, maybe you can investigate again at that time.

I agree with optimist, and would add that this experience is giving you an excellent opportunity to brush up on your knowledge of STIs. :)
