Is it possible to get herpes II from receiving fellatio?

Incredibly rare because (1) the giver would have to have HSV2 orally, which is very uncommon, and (2) oral HSV2 only sheds about 1% of days per year, which is many times less often than oral HSV1 sheds. While not theoretically impossible, two rare factors would have to come together simultaneously to allow this to occur.

Has your partner informed you that he/she has oral HSV2?

Also, in case there is some misunderstanding here, like if you are under the impression that all genital herpes cases are HSV2, it's not uncommon to contract genital herpes from fellatio, but it is far, far more likely to be genital herpes caused by HSV1, sometimes referred to as GHSV1 when the infection is in the genital area. And if you are asking whether someone with genital herpes caused by HSV2 can transmit HSV2 through performing fellatio on you, the answer is no. Unless their mouth is infected with HSV2, it can't be transmitted that way.

Thanks for replying. I'm asking if it's possible to get HSV2 from someone who performed oral sex on me. I got a blood test back that came back as follows:

HSV 2 IGG, AB HERPESELECT 0.99 H

It's in the equivocal range and based on my research and what you're saying, it sounds unlikely that i could have gotten HSV2 this way. I was negative for HSV1.
