11 Stereotypes About Genital Herpes You Probably Believe (And Why You Shouldn’t)

Recommended Posts

A great new article from my new friend Britni!

http://everydayfeminism.com/2015/09/stereotypes-genital-herpes/

All of them are great, but these ones are super important:

#4 is that fine line I always find myself talking about with coaching clients and others. It's not a big enough deal to destroy your life, but it is a big enough deal to be a trustworthy and considerate person and disclose to potential partners.

#6 is also a biggie! We tend to see things in such black-and-white terms. If we get rejected one time, it can feel as if that's representative of how it'll go for the rest of our lives ... Not true!

#8, too. This underlines how herpes isn't inherently a shameful thing. The shame was CREATED.

Hi Adrial, thank you so much for posting. I love anti-stigma articles like this. There's a saying that "the best disinfectant is sunlight." Getting things out in the open has the ability to dry up all the useless gunk surrounding things and show them for what they really are. There's NO SHAME in accidentally catching a harmless virus. I'm StillAwesome and so is everyone on this amazing forum! If you find more articles like this, PLEASE keep them coming!

@StillAwesome ...

Look up the blogs of @Sweetcicily (http://www.sweetcicily.com/) and Ella Dawson (https://ellacydawson.wordpress.com) and myself too (www.SupportTruthandDialog.com) as well as the many fantastic blogs that @Adrial has written on H on here (Herpeslife.com). We (along with Britni) are developing a small but growing group of people who are working on slaying the stigma, one blog at a time. I truly believe that the lid is about to get blown off of this thing soon... Ella alone has done more in 1 year than I ever thought possible and that awareness in the publishing world had made them start to seek out others like Cicily for our experiences.....

Keep the faith...
