valtrex and prodromes

Hey guys!

I've been on valacyclovir for almost 2 months for suppressive purposes because I'm in a new relationship. Before taking it, I got maybe 3 outbreaks a year, always in the same place. I started to recognize my prodromes pretty well (I've had herpes for 3 years) and knew when I was going to have an outbreak.

Well now it seems like I'm having prodromes all the time! But it feels like burning (which honestly could be from sex lol), instead of itchy (which is typical for me) and not in a specific area, but everywhere 'down there'! I did just finish antibiotics for BV (lucky me) which had me awfully itchy as well, but the burning is still there.

Has anyone experienced prodomes more frequently AFTER starting meds? Basically I think I'm just being SUPER paranoid about passing it to my boyfriend. I just find it odd that my body had a pretty good handle on it ( my obs were infrequent and would clear up in 7 to 10 days) and have these possible prodromes AFTER starting valacyclovir.

I had itchiness after taking antibiotics for BV too. Did your dr. give you a prescription for Diflucan? I always get yeast infections with antibiotics because it throws off the balance of bacteria in your lady parts, that could very well be what it is for you too. I took one dose of Diflucan with Monistat 7day and my symptoms cleared up. If you don't notice any relief within 3 days I'd stop using it and tell your doctor what you're experiencing.
