Herpes Disclosure/Love Success Stories?

Recommended Posts

I'd love to hear some stories of relationships AFTER herpes.

Successful disclosures, happy relationships..anything.

I'm trying to keep my head high about jumping back into the dating scene.

But herpes makes me feel like a pariah and I feel that my attitude towards it is keeping me

from having a positive attitude :( Any stories would be great.

Great idea, Harlow! I added a new category called "Herpes talk success stories." I'm going through all the past posts and recategorizing all the ones that end in success. If anyone else finds others, please let me know so I can re-categorize them! :)

Hi Harlow!

I;m not sure if you remember my thread from a couple weekends ago about my fear with disclosing to my new sweetheart. I confided in him my situation and he was completely accepting of it right away.

I just came back from another wonderful weekend with him and we are going stronger than ever. When I am with him, I feel like I'm back to my same old self-the person I was before the H. He makes me feel beautiful and wanted and everything you can imagine. I didn't think it would be possible to find that someone that you can be completely head over heels for with this condition, but I did, and so can you.

I am also very fortunate that he wants to talk to me about it. We are comfortable enough around each other that we can openly discuss how its affected me and precautions we need to take because of H. And surprisingly, when I talk to him about it, I don't feel dirty or shameful because he doesn't make me feel that way.

I realize some days are harder than others Harlow, but have hope that it will get better. trust me, it will! You will find the right person for you, they are out there waiting to meet you! You WILL date again. Have fun! Take your time and get to know the people you are seeing. Be confident in yourself and it will shine through. Don't let the H hold you back from being yourself and enjoying life because love can exist after this. I'm just one story of thousands proving that :)

And just to throw my hat in the ring, too, all the women I've disclosed to have accepted herpes except for the FIRST one after I found out (I disclosed with so much shame, I could've sunk a ship!).

What has ended up breaking us up had nothing to do with herpes and everything to do with regular everyday reasons that would have any relationship not work.

I actually just disclosed last week and it was a beautiful, connecting experience. She just came over tonight and we had a really fun, playful romp. No sex yet, but totally fun and authentic! I think we can get way too tied up in worrying about what it might lead to that we miss all the good stuff in between! Whether or not it will lead to sex with this woman, I have no idea. But I do know I'm totally and completely enjoying myself in the meantime.
